MILWAUKEE -- The Brewers signed outfielder Akil Baddoo to a one-year deal on Thursday. Infielder/outfielder Greg Jones also signed a Minor League deal with an invitation to big league camp.
Drafted by the Twins in 2016 and taken by the Tigers in the Rule 5 Draft in '20, the 27-year-old outfielder has played parts of five seasons with Detroit, posting a .224/.305/.369 slash line with 28 homers and 104 RBIs since his big league debut in 2021. Last season, he played in only seven games with Detroit but had a nice year at Triple-A Toledo, slashing .281/.385/.483 with 15 homers and 25 stolen bases in 103 games. He will go into 2026 with one Minor League option remaining.

Baddoo joins Milwaukee at a time the Brewers are fielding some interest on their deep crop of controllable outfielders, including former first-round pick Garrett Mitchell, a five-tool center fielder whose Major League career has been interrupted by multiple major shoulder injuries. He missed most of 2025 but expects to be healthy for Spring Training.
The Brewers also would consider offers for switch-hitting center fielder Blake Perkins, a former Gold Glove Award finalist, or the versatile Isaac Collins, who is coming off a fourth-place finish in NL Rookie of the Year Award balloting. But all of those players have multiple options and at least three years of contractual control, so there is no urgency to force a trade.
Baddoo was designated for assignment by the Tigers after the 2024 season, but he signed back with the club on a Minor League deal.
