Dickerson extends hitting streak to 23 straight

Alex Dickerson extended his hitting streak to 23 straight games, while infielders Ryan Schimpf and James Loney each drove in four runs and Carlos Asuaje had four hits as Triple-A El Paso scored a 9-1 win at Iowa Wednesday.
Elsewhere in the Padres organization, right-handed pitching prospects Kyle Lloyd and Dinelson Lamet each worked six strong innings while left-hander Matt Thornton suffered the loss in what might have been his final rehab outing with high Single-A Lake Elsinore.
Dickerson was 2-for-4 with a RBI and a run scored to raise his batting average to .421. The left fielder is hitting .555 (20-for-36) with three homers and 11 RBIs since returning to Triple-A El Paso from the Padres on May 15. His hitting streak is the longest in Chihuahuas franchise history and the longest in the Pacific Coast League this season.
Second baseman Asuaje (.331) was 4-for-4 with a double and two runs scored for the 24-21 Chihuahuas.
Third baseman Schimpf (.314) had a double and his sixth homer in five at-bats. First baseman Loney (.340) was 3-for-5 with a double and two runs scored to go with his four RBIs. Center fielder Manuel Margot (.282) was 2-for-5 with two runs scored.
Starting right-hander Carlos Pimental (3-3, 7.80 earned run average) held Iowa to one run on six hits and a walk with four strikeouts in six innings. Right-hander Leonel Campos I4.12 ERA) had a strikeout in two perfect innings. Right-hander Jose Dominguez (3.80) had two strikeouts in a scoreless inning.
Lamet, 23, allowed one run on four hits and a walk with three strikeouts in six innings to run his record to 6-1 and lower his ERA to 1.67 for Lake Elsinore. Lamet has a 1.20 ERA over his last eight starts. He has allowed six runs on 38 hits with 17 walks and 40 strikeouts in 45 innings.
Thornton, who has been on the disabled list since Opening Day with left Achilles inflammation and is expected to rejoin the Padres as early as Friday, gave up two runs on two hits with a strikeout in an inning as he worked back-to-back games for the first time on rehab.
Lloyd (2-0, 3.68 ERA) shut out Northwest Arkansas on three hits with two strikeouts over six innings in his second start for Double-A San Antonio. Lloyd, 25, was a 29th-round pick in the 2013 draft.

LHP Brandon Alger (9.64) gave up a run on two walks with two strikeouts in two-thirds of an inning. RHP Eric Yardley (3.38) allowed a hit with two strikeouts in 1 1/3 scoreless innings. 1B Mike Olt (.254) hit his fifth homer in three at-bats. CF Auston Bousfield (.199) was 1-for-4 with a double and a run scored.
HIGH SINGLE-A LAKE ELSINORE (21-26) - INLAND EMPIRE 3, Storm 1: 2B Luis Urias (.313) was 2-for-4 with a double and a run scored. 1B Luis Tejada (.239) was 2-for-3 with a RBI and a walk. LHP Trevor Seidenberger (7.04 ERA) followed Lamet and Thornton and pitched a perfect eighth.
LOW SINGLE-A FORT WAYNE (23-23) - LANSING 5, TinCaps 2: Starting RHP Jacob Nix (0-1, 2.35 ERA) allowed two runs on four hits with six strikeouts in five innings. RHP Austin Smith (4.45) allowed three runs on four hits and a strikeout in three innings. RF Jhonatan Pena (.175) was 2-for-4 with two RBIs. DH Brad Zunica (.235) was 2-for-4 with a run scored.
