In the lineup for the first time since Aug. 2, Andrelton Simmons showed he hasn't lost a step in the field.

The Angels' Gold Glove shortstop -- wearing his popular nickname, "Simba," on the back of his black Players' Weekend jersey -- retired Astros outfielder George Springer leading off the seventh inning without even needing his glove.

Springer hit a grounder up the middle that bounced three times without even reaching second base. Simmons ranged to his left, then charged and scooped the ball on a short hop with his right hand, firing to first in one fluid motion to nab Springer by a split-second.

It wasn't enough, however, as the Angels went on to lose, 5-4.
