This Brewers prospect is having Minors' best power-hitting season in 12 years

Andrew Fischer is having one of the greatest power-hitting Minor League seasons we’ve seen. Another home run on Tuesday night has him tied with the likes of a former MVP.
Fischer’s long ball on Tuesday was his 43rd of the season -- 23 with Double-A Biloxi and 20 with High-A Wisconsin -- to tie Kris Bryant for the most in a Minor League season since 2014. The Brewers’ No. 5 prospect was 3-for-4 with a walk overall as Double-A Biloxi captured an 8-7 win over Birmingham at Keesler Federal Park.
There have only been nine seasons of 40-plus home runs in affiliated Minor League ball since 2005, with the most recent before Fischer's coming from Marlins prospect Deyvison De Los Santos in 2024, when he hit 40 across Double-A and Triple-A in a span that also included being dealt from the D-backs to Miami in the A.J. Puk trade. Joey Gallo achieved the feat twice in the Rangers system in 2013 and '14.
Fischer clobbered No. 43 in the first inning, following a two-out walk from Josh Adamczewski with a drive to right field. Those were Biloxi’s first runs of the day, helping answer a three-run first from Birmingham.
In a game that saw five lead changes and two ties, Fischer’s clutch hitting continued, taking the lead with an RBI single in the fourth. He also scored the tying run after a single in the sixth. Biloxi pulled away with an eighth-inning run, driven in by a Matthew Wood single.
Fischer’s 65-grade power has been undeniable in his historic season. He reached the historic 40-homer mark in a three-dinger performance last week, and his efforts landed him on MLB Pipeline’s Prospect Team of the Week for the fourth time. The 22-year-old leads the Minor Leagues in home runs and is cruising with a 1.050 OPS in 2026.
There are questions about Fischer’s defensive home. He has begun playing first base for Biloxi after time at third base to begin the season. He also sits fifth in strikeouts in the Minors with 173. But he’s one of just eight Minor Leaguers with 100-plus RBIs this season and has a power stroke that can mask plenty of issues.
