The A's added some infield depth on Friday by claiming Andy Ibáñez off waivers from the Dodgers.

To make room for Ibáñez on the 40-man roster, the A's designated Max Schuemann for assignment.

Ibáñez is a versatile fielder who spent the past three seasons with the Tigers in a utility role. He played 91 games for Detroit in 2025, mainly at third base and second base, and hit .239 with four home runs and 21 RBIs.

The 32-year-old was signed by the Dodgers as a free agent in January, but he was designated for assignment by Los Angeles on Tuesday.

Ibáñez is a career .254 hitter with 28 home runs in five MLB seasons with the Rangers and Tigers.

Schuemann debuted in 2024 for the A's and played 234 games for the team across two big league seasons. In '25, the 28-year-old infielder batted .197 with two home runs and 13 RBIs in 101 games, 47 of them starts.
