Mets claim utilityman Ibáñez off waivers to bolster depth

NEW YORK – The Mets added depth to the roster by claiming infielder/outfielder Andy Ibáñez off waivers on Thursday afternoon.
Ibáñez, 33, played 11 games with the Athletics this season and went 2-for-17 (.118) with three RBIs before he was designated for assignment this past Sunday.
Ibáñez has played six years in the big leagues, most of them with the Tigers from 2023-25. His best season was in 2023, when he had a slash line of .264/.312/.433 with 11 home runs.
