Before outfielder Jac Caglianone and catcher Carter Jensen made their way to the Major Leagues, they were among the Royals’ prospects showcasing their talent in the Arizona Fall League's Fall Stars Game two years ago.
Now, another group of Kansas City's young talent is getting its turn.
Outfielders Angeibel Gomez (Royals' No. 2 prospect, MLB Pipeline’s No. 76 overall) and Zion Rose (No. 6), along with left-hander Justin Lamkin (No. 8), were selected to represent the American League in Sunday's Fall Stars Game at Salt River Fields in Scottsdale, Ariz.
Brooks Bryan will also participate in the AFL's showcase weekend, competing in Saturday's eight-player Home Run Derby.
All four have played for the Surprise Saguaros, whose roster features prospects from the Royals, Guardians, Mets, Phillies and Rangers organizations.
The annual Fall Stars Game, which began in 2006, features prospects selected by a combination of scouts, AFL staff and national baseball reporters. Right-hander Luinder Avila joined Caglianone and Jensen as Kansas City's representatives in 2024, while catcher Blake Mitchell and shortstop Daniel Vazquez earned selections last year.
For Gomez, this year's selection comes with a historic distinction.
At 17 years old, the Venezuelan outfielder is the youngest player ever selected to the Fall Stars Game. Gomez, who is the second-youngest player to compete in AFL history, is batting .300 with an .803 OPS and four stolen bases through 11 games with the Saguaros.
Rose also has put together a strong fall. The 21-year-old outfielder is slashing .309/.487/.491 with two home runs and 13 stolen bases through 14 games.

Lamkin, meanwhile, returned to competitive action in Arizona after a left shoulder injury cut his regular season short in May. The 2025 second-round pick has posted a 3.86 ERA and a 0.92 WHIP across five AFL starts, earning Pitcher of the Week honors in October.
Bryan has also provided some power for Surprise, hitting four home runs in his first nine AFL games after hitting three in 33 games with Single-A Columbia during the regular season.
The Home Run Derby is scheduled for Saturday at 8:30 p.m. ET (7:30 CT), followed by Sunday's Fall Stars Game at 8 p.m. ET (7 CT). The game will air live on MLB Network and stream on MLB.com and the MLB app.
