ASG starters? Vote NOW for Trout, Ohtani

Twenty teams will have at least one representative on the final ballot for the 2021 All-Star Game. Angels fans shouldn’t be surprised that their team has not one but two vote leaders at their positions.

Mike Trout led all American League outfielders in votes with 2,084,542. The three-time AL MVP, who is currently on the injured list with a strained right calf, received the fourth-most votes overall, just behind the Blue Jays' Vladimir Guerrero Jr., the Braves' Ronald Acuña Jr. and the Royals' Salvador Perez.

The other Angels leader is Shohei Ohtani. The two-way star topped the DH leaderboard with 1,961,511 votes.

The finalists include the top nine vote-getters in the outfield and the top three for every other position. Just because Trout and Ohtani will represent the Halos as finalists for the Midsummer Classic doesn’t mean they don’t still need fan votes.

The starters’ spots will be up for grabs since totals from the previous round will reset before the final round of voting. You can vote NOW until Thursday at 11 a.m. PT.

To vote for Trout and Ohtani as starters, fans can submit one ballot every 24 hours at MLB.com or by searching “vote” along with a player’s name.

The All-Star starters will be announced on Thursday at 6 p.m. PT on ESPN. Pitchers and reserves will be revealed July 4 at 2:30 p.m. PT on ESPN. The All-Star Game is July 13 on FOX.
