MESA, Ariz. -- C.J. Cron and Michael Hermosillo each hit solo homers, while Jefry Marte drove in a pair with a go-ahead two-out single in a four-run sixth inning to lift the Angels to a 7-5 victory over the Cubs on Tuesday at Sloan Park.
Addison Russell is on a roll. The Cubs shortstop hit his second homer in two games, launching a three-run shot to center in the third inning.
Manny Banuelos, a candidate for the Angels' rotation, walked three over two hitless innings in his first appearance. Cubs starter Alec Mills, acquired on Feb. 8 in a trade with the Royals, gave up three hits over two innings in his debut.
"He's got a good delivery, has a real live arm," Angels manager Mike Scioscia said of Banuelos. "The ball comes out nice and easy, spins it well. But his first outing, the fastball command wasn't there. He'll get sharper as the spring goes on, but I think it's good to see him get out there, throw some pitches. He's got good stuff."

Cron gave the Angels a 1-0 lead with a two-out homer in the third off Rule 5 Draft pick Caleb Smith. Marte nearly followed with his first homer, but Cubs center fielder Albert Almora Jr. made a leaping catch at the wall to end the inning.

Vicente Campos took over for Banuelos in the third, and Campos walked the first batter he faced, retired the next two, and then walked Anthony Rizzo to set up Russell's blast.
Almora doubled with one out in the fourth and scored on Matt Szczur's triple to give the Cubs a 4-1 lead. Szczur then scored on Taylor Davis' single.

The Angels had two on and one out in the fifth, and a run scored on shortstop Munenori Kawasaki's fielding error. But Kawasaki made up for it when he knocked down Martín Maldonado's grounder and flipped from his knees to Javier Báez at second to start an inning-ending double play.

Ramón Flores added an RBI single and then scored on a wild pitch in the sixth against Maikel Cleto. The Angels loaded the bases and Marte then delivered the go-ahead two-run single.
