Eyanson spins scoreless outing to continue dominant start in Orioles' system

The Orioles made one of the biggest splashes of the 2026 Trade Deadline, sending former franchise cornerstone Adley Rutschman to the Red Sox for a package of prospects that could add pop to a system that ranked in the middle of the pack entering 2026.
Anthony Eyanson has certainly brought the heat since joining the Baltimore organization.
The right-handed pitcher, ranked No. 2 in the Orioles’ system and No. 49 in MLB Pipeline’s Top 100, tossed 3 2/3 scoreless innings on Thursday. That lowered his season ERA to a sparkling 1.51 across two levels, while Double-A Chesapeake captured a 2-0 win in seven innings over Harrisburg at FNB Field.
Eyanson tacked on eight strikeouts in his latest outing, allowing just three hits and issuing three walks in the process. He induced a K to escape a bases-loaded jam in the first inning but faced little trouble the rest of the way. The 21-year-old threw 52 strikes on 85 total pitches.
It was Eyanson's first scoreless appearance in four starts with Chesapeake, but he has allowed no more than two runs and has struck out at least seven in all four.
The Red Sox’s 2025 third-round Draft pick, Eyanson has additionally allowed two runs or fewer in 19 of his 20 appearances on the bump this season, while opponents have hit just .166 against him. The former LSU standout has excellent feel for spin, with a tight mid-80s slider and good curveball that have helped him generate 126 strikeouts in 89 1/3 innings of work. A major key for Eyanson is his fastball velocity, which sat in the low-to-mid-90s in college but has reached the upper 90s at times this season.
With Eyanson now in the fold -- as well as others like 2026 first-rounder Eric Booth Jr. -- the O’s system jumped to No. 7 in Pipeline’s midseason rankings.
