Eyanson, Witherspoon combine for 16 K's to continue strong start in O's organization

Two of the key pieces in the blockbuster Adley Rutschman trade, Anthony Eyanson and Kyson Witherspoon have each pitched twice with their new organization. Each time, they’ve flashed their big-time stuff on the same night, just at different levels.
The duo combined for 10 1/3 innings with 16 strikeouts while allowing four runs, two apiece, on Friday.
Eyanson spun 5 1/3 innings with seven K’s in a 5-2 Double-A Chesapeake win over Reading at FirstEnergy Stadium. In the process, Eyanson outdueled fellow Top 100 prospect Gage Wood (Phillies), who posted five innings, three runs and six strikeouts.
Witherspoon, meanwhile, went five innings with nine punchouts in a 5-2 victory for High-A Frederick over Bowling Green at Nymeo Field at Harry Grove Stadium.

Eyanson, the Orioles’ No. 2 prospect and MLB Pipeline’s No. 49 overall, scattered four hits while also walking four. He posted an eerily similar line in his Chesapeake debut, going five innings with nine strikeouts while allowing two runs on four hits.
The 21-year-old righty and 2025 third-round Draft pick now owns a 1.60 ERA across 18 starts at two levels this season. Eyanson also has 110 strikeouts in 78 2/3 innings.
Witherspoon (BAL No. 12) upped his season strikeout total to 90 in 84 2/3 innings after Friday’s nine. He allowed four hits and issued two walks, bringing his season ERA to 4.46 across 19 High-A starts. Nine punchouts on Friday marked a new career high for the 22-year-old right-hander, who was a first-round Draft pick in 2025.
