Nats' Petersen, Giants' Murphy garner Week 4 Fall League honors
A pair of new faces earned weekly awards in the Arizona Fall League as Scottsdale teammates Sam Petersen and Ryan Murphy took home Hitter and Pitcher of the Week honors respectively for Week 4.
Petersen (WSH No. 24) slashed .421/.476/.842 with two home runs, two doubles, five RBIs and 16 total bases for the Scorpions, who won five of their six games this week. The outfielder led league hitters in homers and total bases while ranking second in hits (eight) and slugging percentage (.476) and third in OPS (1.318) over the six-game stretch. His biggest performance came on Oct. 31 against Salt River when Petersen notched four hits and drove in three runs. He added a walk-off single the next night, also against the Rafters.
The Nationals' eighth-round pick in 2024, Petersen was limited to 57 games this season, reaching High-A Wilmington. He's hitting .333/.439/.604 with three homers and 13 RBIs through his first 14 games this fall.

Meanwhile, Murphy anchored Scottsdale's pitching staff. He logged 7 2/3 scoreless innings across two starts, pacing pitchers in innings while ranking second in strikeouts (six) for the week. The 26-year-old set the tone for a Scorpions staff that has won eight of its last nine games and is tied for the lowest ERA (4.72) in the league, while leading the circuit in total strikeouts (215) and allowing the fewest walks (99). A fifth-round pick in 2020, Murphy has been limited the past two seasons due to injuries and reached Double-A Richmond during the regular season.
