The Angels’ No. 2 prospect hit his first AFL homer in the sixth inning and then followed that up with another blast in the eighth. Jerar Encarnacion, OF, Marlins No. 17
Encarnacion was the only Marlins prospect who played in Salt River’s 6-5 loss to Scottsdale on Monday night, but he certainly represented well. The outfielder went 2-for-5 with three RBIs on the night, all three coming on his three-run home run with two outs in the third off of Mets lefty David Peterson. The right-handed hitter took a Peterson slider the other way, 97.7 mph off the bat for his third AFL homer. He now has 14 RBIs, putting him in a tie for fourth in the league.

Penn Murfee, RHP, Mariners
Murfee piled up the strikeouts during his fifth AFL start, recording eight of his first nine outs by punchout, baffling the Surprise lineup. He finished by tossing 45 of his 63 pitches for strikes, yielding three hits and one walk across four frames. The 25-year-old Murfee has taken the Fall League by storm, striking out 23 batters in 18 innings and pitching to a 1.00 ERA. Raymond Kerr raised his streak of consecutive appearances with a strikeout to five following a scoreless frame Monday. He yielded a two-out single, but was able to lower his AFL ERA to 2.45.

Alec Bohm, 3B/1B, Phillies No. 1
Bohm made a lot of loud contact on Monday night, helping to erase an 0-for-7 stretch over his previous two games. The No. 34 overall prospect went 2-for-3 with a pair of doubles, raising his average to .345. Even his out was smoked, a 105.7 mph lineout to center field. His two doubles registered exit velocities of 106.9 and 105.1 mph, respectively.

Royce Lewis, SS, Twins No. 1
Lewis has been hot all fall and he kept it up on Monday night. His opposite-field single in the third inning drove in D-backs outfielder Jake McCarthy. The 106.5-mph screamer extended his hit streak to 12 games and brought in the first earned run of the fall against Mets lefty David Peterson. It opened the floodgates as Salt River scored five times in the frame, though Lewis ended up 1-for-4 for the night, bringing his average down to .397.

Sterling Sharp, RHP, Nationals No. 13
Sharp posted his best start of the fall during Monday’s contest against Peoria, opening his evening with four no-hit innings. He ultimately finished with one hit (a single) allowed over five frames, adding five strikeouts to his line. Despite the succinctness of his out getting, only 43 of his 73 pitches went for strikes. He relied heavily on his changeup early, but finished with three walks. Through five AFL starts, Sharp owns a 1.42 ERA and has not allowed a run in four of his five appearances.

Jonathan India, 3B, Reds No. 3; Jordan Johnson, RHP
India launched his third home run of the AFL season on Monday, a two-run shot in the top of the eighth that was part of Glendale’s big five-run inning. The No. 97 overall prospect finished the day 1-for-5 with two RBIs. Johnson got the start and gave Glendale four innings of one-run ball as he scattered five hits and struck out two. Johnson now owns a 3.86 ERA in the Arizona Fall League.
