Forrest Whitley, RHP Astros No. 2
Whitley has brought his best stuff to Arizona, as he diced up the opposing order for a second start. The 6-foot-7 right-hander didn’t allow a free pass while punching out eight batters in 4 2/3 innings, bringing his strikeout total in 9 1/3 AFL frames to 14. Peoria recorded two hits off MLB’s No. 17 prospect, but the only run Whitley allowed came on a wild pitch in the first inning. Whitley’s WHIP over two starts sits at a stellar 0.54 mark.

Greg Deichmann, OF, Athletics No. 17
Deichmann hit his fourth homer of the Fall League, a sixth-inning solo shot that would cut the deficit to 4-3. The A’s No. 17 prospect already led the AFL in homers entering the game, but with the Twins’ Royce Lewis also going yard, he’s still only one ahead of second place. His 12 RBIs also pace the league, with Lewis also second in that category.

Royce Lewis, SS/3B, Twins No. 1
Lewis had only one hit on Saturday, but it was a loud one. The Twins’ top prospect launched a two-run homer to left field in the seventh inning, placing him second in the AFL in dingers with three. The first of Lewis’ three RBIs in the game came on a sac fly in the fifth inning, and he also earned a walk and swiped his second bag this fall. The infielder is slashing .364/.423/.864 in six games.

Jose Garcia, SS, Reds No. 9
Batting leadoff for Glendale, Garcia launched his first AFL homer as part of a two-hit effort. The shortstop hit a solo blast in the seventh inning to go along with a double in the first, when he scored a run on a wild pitch. They were the first extra-base hits of the fall for the 21-year-old, who also drew a walk and stole two bases.

David Peterson, LHP, Mets No. 7
Peterson gave up an infield single and a walk to the first two batters of the game, but he bounced back to strike out three straight to close out the first inning and went on to complete 3 1/3 scoreless frames in his second AFL start. The Mets prospect mixed four hits -- only one of which was barreled -- with three walks and struck out four in the outing. He also induced seven ground balls, five of which were converted to outs, and threw 38 of 68 pitches for strikes overall. The southpaw’s fastball sat 90-93 mph with heavy sinking action, and he effectively attacked hitters on both sides of the plate with his sharp breaking ball (82-84 mph) and changeup (83-84). He’s yet to allow a run in 6 1/3 innings this fall.

Glenn Otto, RHP, New York Yankees
Otto spun a gem in his second Fall League start, firing four hitless innings for Surprise against Scottsdale. The 23-year-old right-hander compiled two strikeouts and two walks in the outing while throwing 39 of 59 pitches for strikes. Otto, the Yankees’ fifth-round pick from the 2017 Draft, has given up only one hit in seven scoreless innings this fall after posting a 3.20 ERA with 68 strikeouts in 58 1/3 innings at Class A Advanced Tampa this past season. On Saturday he operated with a 93-95 mph (topped at 96) fastball, a slurvy breaking ball at 81-82 mph and a diving changeup that registered in the upper 80s.

Geraldo Perdomo, SS, D-backs No. 7
Perdomo upped his AFL batting average to .393 with a two-hit night for Salt River. Leading off the first for the Rafters, the product of the Dominican Republic sent a scorcher to center field that earned him a triple and later a run scored. He ripped an RBI single in the fifth inning and came around to score, and he also drew a walk.

Julio Rodriguez, OF, Mariners No. 2
Rodriguez had a big day for the Javelinas, collecting a pair of hits from the No. 4 spot in the order, driving in three runs and scoring a run, as well. He started things off with an RBI double in the top of the third, plating a pair of runs. Then in the eighth inning, he singled home another run. Rodriguez didn’t get off to a great start in the Fall League but is turning things around, notching hits in four straight games and RBIs in three of his past four.

Alec Bohm, 3B/1B, Phillies No. 1
Bohm added to Scottsdale’s lead when he drove in a run with a broken bat single in the eighth inning. The Phillies’ top prospect plated Mickey Moniak (Phillies’ No. 8), who led off the inning with a single, and Bohm finished the game 1-for-3 with a walk. Through six games in the AFL, Bohm is batting .435 with five RBIs.

Bubba Thompson, OF, Rangers No. 8
Thompson sandwiched a line-drive single to right-center field off of left-hander David Peterson between a pair of infield singles in his first three at-bats before finishing 3-for-4. The three knocks for the Rangers’ No. 8 prospect accounted for half of Surprise’s hits, and he also picked up his second AFL stolen base in the contest. Thompson, a 2017 first-round pick, has gotten off to a strong start in the desert, hitting .320 with a pair of homers through seven games.
