With Astros camp approaching, here's what you need to know
HOUSTON -- Coming off their first missed trip to the postseason since 2016, the hungry Astros will report to Spring Training next week after having spent much of the offseason adding depth to a starting rotation that was decimated by injuries last year.
The Astros have a solid veteran position-player core, led by Jose Altuve, Yordan Alvarez, Carlos Correa and 2025 team Most Valuable Player Jeremy Peña, and will have very few spots up for grabs among that group. Most of the competition this spring will be in the rotation, which will be anchored by Hunter Brown, an AL Cy Young finalist last year.

The club also signed Ryan Weiss and traded for Mike Burrows, both of whom are starting pitchers, and traded for reliever Kai-Wei Teng from the Giants.
The biggest addition on the position-player side is utility man Nick Allen, who came over from the Braves in the Mauricio Dubón trade.
