Correa, Springer continue to progress in rehab

HOUSTON -- Seven Astros have gone on the disabled list since July 18. Most of them, including All-Stars Carlos Correa and George Springer, are progressing in their rehab, manager A.J. Hinch said Thursday.
Correa, who Hinch said was "at least a month away" on Tuesday, is running, throwing and working out. About two weeks removed from successful surgery to repair a torn ligament in his left thumb, Correa is doing most baseball activities, except swinging a bat. Correa leads the team with 67 RBIs, but remains unsure about a possible return date.
"I can't say right now, because you never know, but hopefully I can be playing soon," Correa said. "I feel great. My strength is back. My range of motion is really good. We're just waiting for the ligament to heal."

Springer, who sprinted on the field on Wednesday for the first time since hitting the 10-day DL on July 25 with left quad discomfort, continued his workouts on Thursday. However, the outfielder will remain on the disabled list past Friday, his first day eligible to be back.
Additionally, Hinch said right-handed reliever Will Harris has yet to begin a throwing program. Harris, who went on the DL with a shoulder bone bruise/inflammation for a second time on July 28, will likely need a rehab assignment before returning.
Worth noting
• Rehab programs for Astros relievers Michael Feliz (right shoulder discomfort) and Tony Sipp (right calf soreness) remain unclear.
• Brad Peacock, who is 6-1 in 11 starts this season after being moved from the bullpen in late May, will start Friday against the Blue Jays in place of Lance McCullers Jr. McCullers was placed on the 10-day DL on July 31 with lingering back discomfort.
