A's acquire Minors righty Ben Hansen from Red Sox for Brett Harris
The Athletics have traded infielder Brett Harris to the Boston Red Sox for Minor League right-handed pitcher Ben Hansen, the club announced Wednesday.
Harris went 0-for-5 in four games with the A’s in early May and has spent most of the season at Triple-A Las Vegas. He was batting .336 with five home runs, 34 RBI and a .978 OPS with the Aviators when he was designated for assignment on June 27 when the A’s acquired Hayden Juenger from the Toronto Blue Jays. The 28-year-old Harris hit .194 with three home runs and 17 RBI in 73 games over three seasons with the A’s.
Hansen has spent the entire season at High-A Greenville and is 2-0 with a save and a 4.75 ERA in 13 games, including two starts. He has struck out 52 batters in 41.2 innings and walked just 14 for a strikeout-to-walk ratio of 3.71. The 24-year-old right-hander was selected by Boston in the 20th round of the 2024 First-Year Player Draft and is 3-7 with a 5.63 ERA in 31 career appearances, including 17 starts, in two professional seasons.
