Could Blake Snell’s next start be in a Dodgers uniform?
After the left-hander’s latest rehab start -- which came Wednesday for Single-A Ontario -- that could very much be a possibility.
Here’s the latest on Snell as he makes his way back from surgery to remove loose bodies in his left elbow.
How did he perform?
Snell threw four scoreless innings for the Single-A Tower Buzzers against Fresno, allowing just one hit. He struck out nine and threw 45 of his 60 pitches for strikes.
The lone hit Snell allowed was a one-out single in the first inning. He got 11 straight outs after that, striking out the side in order in the second inning.
What’s next?
The Dodgers originally hoped to build Snell up to five innings and/or 75 pitches, but with his success on Wednesday, he might not require another rehab start.
Los Angeles could use a reinforcement in its rotation with Shohei Ohtani kept from pitching due to right biceps and left knee injuries and Tyler Glasnow remaining out with lower back spasms.
What else?
Glasnow, at least, is nearing a return himself. He threw two innings of live batting practice on Wednesday and is expected to begin a rehab assignment next.
