How Blue Jays are moving past Yanks sweep

After a 10-7 loss to the Yankees on Thursday night that capped a sweep in the three-game series at Yankee Stadium, Blue Jays manager Charlie Montoyo went around the clubhouse and made sure that everyone on the team had a positive attitude. Montoyo reminded his players that they had won or tied nine straight series before losing to the Yankees.

Entering Friday’s action, the Blue Jays were 26-23, clinging to the last Wild Card spot at a half-game behind the Indians and 4 1/2 ahead of the Mariners on the outside looking in.

“[I told them], 'Let’s move on. Let’s get ready for the Phillies tomorrow.' That’s what I said in the clubhouse last night,” Montoyo said. “Everybody was talking, and they were fine. The mood in the clubhouse today was great.”

Reliever Anthony Bass said the Blue Jays must have a short memory They now have to focus on the Phillies this weekend, starting with trying to win the doubleheader on Friday. They have to take each game one at a time.

“We are in a good position, still. We are three games over .500. We have a good chance of doing something special this year," Bass said. "I think all the guys know that. We are not taking the Yankees series into this series [against the Phillies]."
