Dec. 4, 2025 – Hall of Fame broadcaster Bob Costas and five-time Emmy winner Tom Verducci will reunite to relive the iconic 2025 World Series Game 7 in a new MLB Network special premiering Thursday, Dec. 11 at 7 p.m. ET. In what would become the most-watched MLB game in 34 years, averaging 51 million viewers across the United States, Japan and Canada, the MLB Network Special – 2025 World Series Game 7 delves into the unforgettable 11-inning deciding game. A clip from the program, which will re-air later that night on Dec. 11 at 12 a.m. ET/9 p.m. PT, can be viewed here.

Throughout the show, Costas and Verducci revisit the defining plays, pivotal decisions, momentum swings and emotional moments that shaped the all-time game. Together, the duo provides real-time insight, in-depth analysis and historical context around the Los Angeles Dodgers winning a back-to-back championship by narrowly defeating the Toronto Blue Jays, who were making their first World Series appearance in 32 years.

“As the closing act of one of the greatest World Series ever, Game 7 was an unmatched combination of excitement, tension, managerial chess moves, individual heroics and so many heart-pounding moments in which the outcome hung in the balance,” Costas said. “I have seen a lot of baseball in my life, but I cannot recall a single game with so much at stake that combined as many elements as this one.”

“Think you know what happened in 2025 World Series Game 7? Think again,” Verducci said. “Watch the 'MLB Network Special' on one of the greatest games ever played and you will discover new insights, new camera angles and new behind-the-scenes stories. It’s the Mariana Trench of deep dives.”

The special features Verducci’s signature deep-dive breakdowns of several of the game’s most remarkable moments, including Will Smith’s go-ahead home run in the 11th inning, Miguel Rojas’ game-tying ninth-inning home run, the dramatic play at the plate involving Isiah Kiner-Falefa and Andy Pages’ remarkable game-saving catch, which Verducci calls “one of the greatest catches in World Series history.”

Together, Costas and Verducci offer a thorough, insightful and nostalgic look back at the defining game of the most recent Postseason, giving viewers the chance to relive the tension and magic of Game 7 all over again through the lens of two of baseball’s most iconic storytellers.

In February of 2024, Costas and Verducci teamed up to relive the historic 2016 World Series Game 7 between the Chicago Cubs and then Cleveland Indians which ended with the Cubs winning their first World Series title in 108 years (1908). Costas and Verducci co-hosted MLB Network’s acclaimed MLB’s 20 Greatest Games series in 2011, which ranked the best games of the previous 50 seasons. The series highlighted many classic games, including Game 6 of the 1975 World Series (Boston vs. Cincinnati) at No. 1 and Game 7 of the 1991 World Series (Minnesota vs. Atlanta) at No. 2, with Hall of Famers Johnny Bench, Jack Morris and John Smoltz joining to revisit those moments.

In addition to MLB’s 20 Greatest Games, Costas and Verducci regularly called MLB Network Showcase and Postseason telecasts together since the network’s launch and have since collaborated on The Sounds of Baseball series, profiling MLB’s most iconic broadcasters.
