ATLANTA -- The attempt to learn more about how the Braves are celebrating hits this year proved to be a head scratcher.
Many fans might remember after recording a hit last year, Braves players would flash the peace sign and then swipe those fingers down to create the A-town down sign to show their love for Atlanta. This year, they have been responding to hits by putting a hand on top of their head and simulating a head scratch.
Who came up with this idea?
“Part of it was that no one knew what to do,” Braves catcher Drake Baldwin said. “We were just doing random stuff.”
Asked who should get the credit for this new ritual, Ronald Acuña Jr. said, “[Michael] Harris [II].”
“There's no, like, true meaning,” Harris said. "It's just something we played around with. We didn't really know what we wanted to do going into the games. I don't know. We just did that in the dugout.”

An instantaneous reaction created this new ritual?
“The last week of Spring Training, we were trying to figure it out,” Harris said. “Nobody had anything. We didn't have anything going into Opening Day. But then that happened, and we just kept using it. It was just a game-time thing.”
So, should Harris get credit?
“I really don't know who gets credit,” Harris said. “I don't know who the first person was to actually do it.”
It’s a head scratcher.
