Braves add Mansolino, Martinez to 2026 coaching staff
ATLANTA -- The Braves added to their coaching staff on Friday, when they announced Tony Mansolino as their new third-base coach and J.P. Martinez as their new bullpen coach.
This has been a busy week for Atlanta, which named Walt Weiss as its new manager on Monday. The announcements of Mansolino and Martinez were preceded by Wednesday’s revelation that Jeremy Hefner will be the new pitching coach and Antoan Richardson will be the first-base coach.
The Braves still haven’t announced who will serve as Weiss’s bench coach. Eddie Pérez has been a mainstay on Atlanta’s staff over the past two decades, but the team hasn’t announced whether he’ll remain on Weiss’ staff. Hitting coach Tim Hyers signed a two-year contract before this past season.
Mansolino, 43, was in his fifth season as Baltimore’s third-base coach before being named the Orioles’ interim manager this year on May 17. He filled a variety of coaching roles within Cleveland’s organization from 2011-20. His father, Doug Mansolino, has spent the past seven seasons filling various roles -- including field coordinator -- within Atlanta’s Minor League system.
Martinez, 43, served as the Giants’ assistant pitching coach from 2021-24 and then was elevated to pitching coach for this past season. He pitched for five seasons in the Minors and began his coaching career within the Twins’ system in ‘15.
