No espresso needed to power this Team Italy star's walk-off HR at High-A

Andrew Fischer knows a thing or two about delivering in high-pressure situations. So when High-A Wisconsin was down 5-4 in the bottom of the 10th inning Friday night, he was just the person to have at the plate.

With a runner on first, the Brewers’ No. 5 prospect launched a home run to center field for a 6-5 walk-off victory over Quad Cities at Neuroscience Group Field.

To that point, it had been a pretty ho-hum game for the 2025 first-round Draft pick, who struck out in each of his first four at-bats. But with the game on the line and the count full, Fischer sent a 104.6 mph moonshot into the Wisconsin night, roughly 90 minutes from where his big league future could soon lie.

The home run was the latest high note in Fischer’s return to form in the power department. After finishing his college career with a 25-homer season for Tennessee, the lefty-batting infielder was slow to tap into his 60-grade pop in the Minors. He hit just one home run in 74 at-bats at High-A in 2025.

But there’s nothing a strong shot of espresso can’t cure. While representing Team Italy in the World Baseball Classic, Fischer took center stage. With a home run and some key hits, MLB's No. 89 prospect helped lead Italy to a semifinal appearance. In 16 trips to the plate, he posted a 1.152 OPS. His five RBIs tied for second on a star-studded team.

And while the stage is a tad smaller, Fischer has continued his momentum at High-A. He now has five homers in his past six games, a stretch in which he has produced a 1.351 OPS.

Friday’s home run is certainly another memorable moment in what has already been an action-packed year for Fischer, who has emerged as MLB's top-ranked third-base prospect in short order.
