Pipeline Preview: Peralta looks to stay hot for Biloxi

Here's a look at top prospects to watch in today's Minor League action:
Hitter to watch:Jorge Mateo (A's No. 4), Midland at Frisco (8:05 p.m. ET on MiLB.TV)
Mateo fired on all cylinders Friday in Double-A Midland's win against San Antonio on Friday, going 4-for-5 with a triple, two RBIs and four runs scored out of the leadoff spot. It was his fourth four-hit performance this season and his first since joining the A's organization in the Trade Deadline deal for Sonny Gray. Overall, the 22-year-old shortstop-center fielder has posted a .267 average across with 58 extra-base hits and 52 steals in 126 games this season spanning two levels and two organizations.

Pitcher to watch:Freddy Peralta (Brewers' No. 11), Biloxi at Mobile (8:05 p.m. ET on MiLB.TV)
Peralta has been the hottest pitcher in the Minors since the beginning of August. The 21-year-old right-hander owns a 0.40 ERA for Double-A Biloxi over his last five outings (four starts), during which he's compiled 33 strikeouts in 22 1/3 innings while holding hitters to a paltry .105/.236/.132 line. The torrid stretch comes at the end of a breakout campaign that's seen Peralta post a 2.53 ERA with a .176 opponents' average and 161 strikeouts in 114 combined innings between the Carolina and Southern Leagues.

Duel of the day: Matt Manning (Tigers' No. 2) vs. Adrian Morejon (Padres' No. 5), West Michigan vs. Fort Wayne (7 p.m. ET on MiLB.TV)
Manning, MLB Pipeline's No. 68 overall prospect, is looking to finish the regular season on a high note after registering a 7.82 ERA in his first four starts for Class A West Michigan. The 2016 first-rounder (No. 9 overall) showed much better in the New York-Penn League, posting a 1.89 ERA with 36 strikeouts in 33 1/3 innings (nine starts) for Class A Short Season Connecticut.

Morejon has also scuffled since moving up to the Midwest League, as the No. 78 overall prospect carries a 4.76 ERA through five starts with him into the weekend. The 18-year-old southpaw has allowed 22 hits while logging 17 strikeouts and 12 walks over 22 2/3 innings in that span. Including his time in the New York-Penn League, Morejon has pitched to a 4.03 ERA with 52 strikeouts and 15 walks over 58 innings (12 starts) in his professional debut.
