Wren caps wild finish with walk-off single

MILWAUKEE -- José Abreu hit a game-tying home run in the seventh inning on Saturday and an RBI single amid another tying rally in the ninth, but the Brewers found answers in a back-and-forth Spring Training finale.
Milwaukee got go-ahead hits from Jesús Aguilar in the sixth inning and Kirk Nieuwenhuis in the seventh before finally winning, 5-4, on outfield prospect Kyle Wren's bases-loaded single in the bottom of the ninth.
Two weekend victories over the White Sox gave the Brewers a 17-16-1 exhibition record, while Chicago fell to 16-17-2.
The Brewers' postgame celebration was subdued after Garcia was injured in a collision at home plate with White Sox outfielder Nicky Delmonico in the top of the ninth, as Delmonico scored the tying run. Garcia was fitted with a neck brace and left the field on a stretcher.
Brewers starter Jimmy Nelson was sharp in his final exhibition start, limiting the Sox to two hits over five crisp innings, one of which came on Melky Cabrera's two-out solo home run in the first.

Nelson struck out three batters without issuing a walk, and finished Spring Training with 19 strikeouts versus two walks in 17 1/3 innings.
"I feel good about where I'm at," Nelson said. "I feel good mentally, the adjustments I've made in my delivery. Today, it felt real effortless, real smooth. If I stay right there and make my pitches, good things will happen."
Chicago starter Derek Holland and relievers Miguel González and Anthony Swarzak made a 1-0 lead hold into the sixth, when the Brewers mounted a scoring rally that culminated with Jesus Aguilar's two-out, two-run single. 
Abreu tied the game an inning later with a line-drive homer. The White Sox slugger was the only regular to play the entire game, going 3-for 4-with two RBIs.
"I've been feeling much more comfortable the last two weeks," Abreu said. "I spoke with [manager Rick Renteria] because I wanted to get a specific amount of at-bats before the season started, and I got them. I'm just ready for the season to start."

Nieuwenhuis, who hit 11 of his 13 homers last season in home games, reclaimed the lead with his own solo shot in the bottom of the same frame. The Brewers tacked on an insurance run on center fielder Luis Alexander Basabe's two-out error.
Holland struck out four batters in two scoreless innings, allowing two hits and no walks. He is scheduled to pitch Chicago's third game of the regular season on Thursday at home against the Tigers.
Nelson's regular-season debut is scheduled for Friday at home against the defending World Champion Cubs.
White Sox Up Next: Chicago will begin the regular season Monday against Detroit at Guaranteed Rate Field. José Quintana will take the mound for the White Sox with first pitch set for 3:10 p.m. CT.
Brewers Up Next:Ryan Braun and the Brewers open their 49th season as a franchise on Monday against the Rockies at Miller Park. Junior Guerra, who didn't even crack last year's Opening Day roster but went on to be the Brewers' best starter, is scheduled to throw the season's first pitch at 1:10 p.m. CT.
