With multiple relievers on the injured list, the Dodgers are looking forward to the return of key relief arms to bolster the two-time defending World Series champions' bullpen.
On Thursday, shortly after veteran right-hander Evan Phillips pitched a scoreless inning for Triple-A Oklahoma City as he works his way back from Tommy John surgery, right-hander Brock Stewart also tossed a scoreless frame for Single-A Ontario against Rancho Cucamonga.
Stewart, who has been sidelined since early May due to a left foot bone spur, gave up one hit and struck out one on 17 pitches (11 strikes) in the fourth inning, lowering his ERA over five appearances with Ontario to 1.93. His current injured list stint is his second this season -- he didn't make his season debut until May 6 after recovering from right shoulder surgery.
The Dodgers originally selected Stewart in the sixth round of the 2014 Draft, and he made his MLB debut with Los Angeles in '16. He pitched for the Dodgers and Blue Jays in 2019, then for the Twins from 2023-25. The Dodgers acquired him from the Twins at last year's Trade Deadline.
The 34-year-old owns a career 4.44 ERA over eight Major League seasons, including a 2.63 mark over 43 appearances between Minnesota and Los Angeles last year.
