DENVER -- The Dodgers optioned starting pitcher Brock Stewart back to Triple-A Oklahoma City on Wednesday night and recalled left-handed reliever Grant Dayton.
Stewart was the losing pitcher Wednesday against the Rockies, allowing nine runs and four home runs in four-plus innings while making his second Major League start.
Dayton made a cameo with the Dodgers on July 22, pitching two scoreless innings against St. Louis before returning to Oklahoma City. He pitched one inning for Oklahoma City on Wednesday, but manager Dave Roberts said he considers him a multi-inning option. Dayton brings the current number of relievers in the Dodgers bullpen to nine.
