Cards-Bucs tilt at PNC Park delayed by rain

PITTSBURGH -- Less than 20 minutes after first pitch, the Pirates and Cardinals entered a rain delay Saturday afternoon at PNC Park.
Saturday's game was moved up three hours, from 7:05 p.m. ET to 4:05 p.m., to accommodate the clubs' Sunday travel plans for the MLB Little League Classic in Williamsport. The game began on time under mostly sunny skies, but dark clouds quickly rolled in, as the foreboding forecast suggested.
The clubs traded zeros in the first inning, then the rain intensified in the second inning. José Martínez doubled to right field, took third base on a passed ball and scored on Kolten Wong's single to right field. The game was delayed during Randal Grichuk's at-bat, as the grounds crew emerged from the lower tunnel at PNC Park to roll the tarp over the infield.
