How many Cards prospects does it take to hit five HRs? Just two in this High-A rout

The Fourth of July fireworks happened a few weeks ago, but Tai Peete and Jack Gurevitch are still lighting up the night sky.
The duo kept the scoreboard operator busy at Dozer Park on Tuesday night, combining with five homers, seven extra-base hits and nine RBIs en route to High-A Peoria's 16-3 rout of visiting West Michigan.
Gurevitch became the first Chief to go yard three times in a game since Michael Curialle did so on May 12, 2024. St. Louis' No. 28 prospect equaled a personal best with five RBIs, which he first set on April 21 with Single-A Palm Beach in the Florida State League.
Gurevitch got his night going right from the jump, following Peete's solo homer in the opening frame with one of his own. After a walk in the Chiefs' six-run third, the 2025 third-rounder doubled in the fourth and capped his momentous effort by leaving the yard in his final two at-bats.
The performance was the latest in a string of impressive games for the 22-year-old Gurevitch, who has excelled during his first full-season campaign. The San Diego product opened 2026 at Palm Beach, where he posted a .936 OPS in 28 games. The 6-foot-2, 215-pounder has been just as dangerous since he joined Peoria, batting .302 with a .908 OPS and 12 long balls in 50 games.
Add it all up and Gurevitch is slashing .293/.381/.534 with 38 extra-base hits, 18 jacks and 59 RBIs in 78 contests this season.
Not to be outdone was Peete, who is in the midst of his best pro season despite missing more than a month with a concussion. The Cardinals' No. 17 prospect -- who came over in the offseason trade that sent Brendan Donovan to the Mariners -- opened the scoring for the Chiefs with the solo tater in front of Gurevitch in the first and went deep again in the second.
Peete tallied his third extra-base hit of the night with an RBI triple and trotted home on Gurevitch's third dinger of the night in his first true breakout game since hitting for the cycle on April 17.
After going yard a career-high 19 times last year for High-A Everett, the Georgia native appeared well on his way to surpassing that mark. Peete sported a .828 OPS, five roundtrippers and 25 RBIs in 32 games through May 20 before being sidelined. The 20-year-old appeared in three rehab games in the Rookie-level Florida Complex League before returning to the Midwest League on July 17.
In four games since his return, Peete has gone 5-for-16 (.313) with five RBIs.
