Biggio day to day with pinkie injury

Cavan Biggio was scratched from Wednesday’s 5-0 win over the Yankees with discomfort in his right pinkie finger, but unlike some of the Blue Jays’ recent injuries, this appears to be a minor issue at worst.

Manager Charlie Montoyo said Biggio “jammed his finger a little bit,” while receiving a throw on Monday, making it difficult for him to hold a bat the past two days.

Springer (oblique), Ray (bruise) sidelined

Biggio underwent an X-ray, which showed no fracture or other structural damage, said Montoyo, who called the infielder “day to day.”

“As long as he can grab the bat, he should be fine,” Montoyo said. “We’ll see how it feels [Thursday].”

Biggio’s finger injury comes on the heels of a rash of Toronto injuries. Kirby Yates is likely headed for Tommy John surgery, George Springer is dealing with a Grade 2 strain in his left oblique and Robbie Ray bruised his left elbow after falling down some stairs.

“It’s not bad news,” Montoyo said of this latest Jays malady. “So that’s good.”
