Righty McDermott heads to Dodgers in trade with Orioles

The Dodgers acquired right-handed pitcher Chayce McDermott from the Orioles on Thursday in exchange for right-handed pitcher Axel Perez.
McDermott, 27, made five appearances for Triple-A Norfolk this year, going 1-0 with a 6.75 ERA. He made his Major League debut in 2024, making one start and allowing three runs in four innings.
In 113 Minor League appearances, he is 22-24 with a 4.38 ERA and 568 strikeouts in 409 innings. He was drafted by the Houston Astros with 132nd pick of the 2021 Draft out of Ball State University.
Perez, 20, went 1-1 with a 5.48 ERA in 10 games (nine starts) for the Dominican Summer League Dodgers in 2025. He was signed as an international free agent on Jan. 15, 2024, out of Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.
