Veteran reliever Chris Martin made his first rehab appearance with Double-A Frisco on Wednesday as he nears a return to the Rangers' bullpen after being sidelined by a right shoulder impingement.

Martin, who was placed on the 15-day injured list on June 1 (retroactive to May 31), pitched a scoreless first inning against Midland, yielding one hit and striking out two. Rangers manager Skip Schumaker has said that Martin should only need a couple of rehab outings before returning to the Major League club.

The current IL stint is Martin's second so far this season -- he also missed more than a month from mid-April to late May due to the same right shoulder impingement.

So far in the 2026 campaign, Martin has a 7.84 ERA over 12 appearances for Texas. Last season, he posted a 2.98 ERA over 49 appearances for the Rangers. In all, he owns a 3.45 ERA during an 11-year MLB career.
