Stratton traded to Bucs for cash considerations

BALTIMORE -- The Angels have traded right-hander Chris Stratton to the Pittsburgh Pirates in exchange for cash considerations.

Stratton, 28, went 0-2 with an 8.59 ERA in seven games -- including five starts -- for the Angels this season. He struck out 22 batters and walked 18 in 29 1/3 innings.

He was designated for assignment on May 7. After the Pirates put in a waiver claim on Stratton, the trade was made.

Drafted by the San Francisco Giants in the first round of the 2012 Major League Baseball Draft, he went 15-14 with a 4.63 ERA in 48 games -- 36 starts -- over three seasons with the Giants.

Stratton was traded to the Angels on March 29 in exchange for pitcher Williams Jerez.
