PEORIA, Ariz. -- Phillies pitching prospect Connor Seabold was dominant.

His Scottsdale Scorpions teammates were resilient. The offense racked up 18 hits, a third of which came from other players in his organization.

The result was an 8-6 victory against the Surprise Saguaros on Thursday at Peoria Sports Complex that certainly left many in Philadelphia’s organization feeling good about the future.

“Everybody that was in the lineup got after it,” said Seabold, ranked by MLB Pipeline as the Phillies' No. 30 prospect. “I felt good. Everything was working. The slider had good depth, the changeup was on and the fastball had some life. It was all working today.”

Seabold retired the first eight batters he faced, including four by strikeout, before giving up a single to right field by Rangers catching prospect Matt Whatley with two outs in the third. The right-hander responded by striking out the next hitter, Royals outfielder Brewer Hicklen, to cap off his solid outing.

Seabold also had plenty of help from his fellow Phillies prospects. Center fielder Mickey Moniak, Philadelphia’s No. 8 prospect, singled in the first inning off Surprise starter Noah Bremer (Texas) and scored on a double by third baseman Alec Bohm, Philadelphia’s top prospect, for Scottsdale's first run.

“Seabold was unbelievable,” said Moniak, who had two hits and scored two runs. “He’s continuing what he did the last half of the season for us and it was really fun to watch in center field. There was not a lot of action, which is good most of the time. It was impressive. That’s the guy we know in this organization.”

Mets catcher Patrick Mazeika and Braves first baseman Greyson Jenista each scored in the second inning to extend the Scorpions’ lead to 3-0.

But with Seabold out of the game, the Saguaros rallied with a run by Washington shortstop prospect Luis Garcia in the fourth. Rangers prospect Bubba Thompson led off the bottom of the fifth with a solo home run off JoJo Romero, the Phillies' No. 10 prospect, as part of a two-run inning to tie the game at 3.

“We did well. JoJo threw the ball well and Seabold had a good start,” said Bohm, who finished with four hits, one run and two RBIs. “It’s fun to come out here and play with some other guys and still have your normal teammates.”

Braves outfield prospect Justin Dean broke the 3-3 tie and gave Scottsdale the lead with an RBI single in the sixth. Bohm, Philadelphia’s first-round Draft pick in 2018, singled and scored on a double by Giants top prospect Joey Bart to extend Scottsdale’s lead to 5-3. Moniak’s RBI double in the eighth made it 6-3.

“From every organization, top-down on this Scottsdale Scorpions team, it was a good night offensively,” Moniak said. “The pitchers came up with some big outs and from the Phillies, me and Bohm had some good at-bats. That’s what it is all about. It was a fun game to be a part of.”
