LOS ANGELES -- X-rays for Corey Seager's right wrist came back negative following a hit-by-pitch in the sixth inning during the Dodgers' 6-2 loss to the Phillies on Wednesday.
Seager was hit by a 91-mph fastball from Elvis Araujo and was visited by a trainer for a quick check. After a few moments, Seager took his base, then stayed in for the rest of the game.
"Corey's fine, it's just a little bruise," manager Dave Roberts said. "That's as quick as I've come out of the dugout in a long time. I'm just happy to see he was fine"
The team took the X-rays as a precaution even though the injury was believed to just be bruising, an understandable level of vigilance given the shortstop is in the middle of a National League Rookie of the Year campaign and will likely receive some Most Valuable Player Award votes.
Seager said after the game that he hopes to play Friday, but there is already at least one unfortunate consequence: He has been scratched from Clayton Kershaw's charity ping-pong tournament on Thursday's off-day.
