ARLINGTON -- Corey Seager doesn’t say much. The Rangers' franchise shortstop is a man of few words and little emotion, often letting his game speak for itself
His contributions on the field have been obvious since joining the Rangers ahead of the 2022 season: Three-time All-Star, World Series MVP, a .278 batting average with 117 home runs and 303 RBIs in 495 games.
But it’s his work off the field that mostly goes unnoticed. It’s what earned him recognition as the Rangers’ 2025 nominee for the Roberto Clemente Award.

The Roberto Clemente Award is the annual recognition of a Major League player who best represents the game of baseball through extraordinary character, community involvement, philanthropy and positive contributions, both on and off the field. Each MLB club nominates one player to be considered for the league-wide award in tribute to Clemente’s achievements and character.
The league-wide winner will be honored at the 2025 World Series.
“Obviously, it’s a really cool honor, especially with the people that are in this clubhouse and what they do and how involved our team is in the community,” Seager said. “Just to kind of get that nod was really special, for sure.”
This marks the first career Roberto Clemente Award nomination for Seager, who has spent 11 years as a Major Leaguer. Seager and his wife, Mady, have been active and consistent within the Dallas-Fort Worth community over the last four years.
Most notably this year, Seager made a significant contribution to support relief and recovery efforts in response to the devastating flooding in Central Texas this summer.
The Seagers’ biggest event over the last two years has been the "Uncorked for a Cause" charity wine events hosted alongside his wife, Mady. Between the 2024-25 events, they raised over $130,000 for the Texas Rangers Baseball Foundation.
Seager has also been active at the Texas Rangers Youth Academy in West Dallas, holding multiple “Seager Squad” hitting clinics for athletes. There, he offers hundreds of participants hands-on and personalized instruction to improve their offensive skills. In 2024, he partnered with the Texas Rangers Baseball Foundation and Major League Baseball to renovate Arlington’s Senter Park in 2024, including the construction of the “Corey Seager Batting Cages,” which was funded entirely by the Seagers.
Corey and Mady also donate backpacks, clothes, shoes and a variety of other items to local foster teens each fall through the Prom Series Back to School Drive, as well as host Back-to-School Shopping Sprees each of the last four years at Academy Sports & Outdoors benefitting students from the Arlington ISD Student Outreach Services program.
“I love what players are doing today, as far as committing to helping out in communities and doing what they can to make a difference,” Rangers manager Bruce Bochy said. “Corey, you've seen the work that he's done in Texas. I think anytime a player takes time like he does and spends time with a charity, raising money, helping out, I think that's deserving of what Roberto Clemente was about, that's helping others and serving others. We're gifted to be doing what we're doing. We're lucky. And so for these players that do what they're doing, make a difference. I tell you, it's been fun to watch and cool to watch.”
