Indian cricket superstars Shardul Thakur, Jitesh Sharma and Kashvee Gautam join MLB legends for MLBx: Mumbai
When MLBx -- the modified co-ed 3-on-3 home run-and-defense derby -- takes the field in Mumbai, it will answer a very important question: Who's better at smashing home runs -- MLB's former slugging superstars, softball's best hitters, or India's greatest cricket stars?
While the event will be played on Oct. 24 at Mumbai Football Arena, Andheri Sports Complex, on Thursday we learned a few more of the participants who will be joining India's T20 World Cup-winning captain Suryakumar Yadav and former MLBers MLB superstars Nick Swisher and Adrían González.

Yadav will pair with original MLBx slugger Swisher and AUSL two-way star Rachel Garcia for the event later this month:
Joining González's team will be Jordan Woolery, who made her AUSL debut this season, and Jitesh Sharma, who was a member of the Royal Challengers Bengaluru squad that won the IPL in 2025 and was the captain of the Emerging India side at the 2025 Asia Cup Rising Stars. In addition, he won an Asian Games gold medal in 2022.
Shardul Thakur, who has won two IPL titles with the Chennai Super Kings and was a member of a India's 2018 and 2023 Asia Cup-winning squads, will join former Cubs World Series winner and MLBx veteran Jake Arrieta. Their squad's third member will be announced soon.
Kashvee Gautam, who made history as the first Indian woman to take all 10 wickets in an innings in a BCCI domestic tournament and has become the most expensive uncapped Indian player in WPL auction history, will slot in with another MLBx veteran and two-time World Series winner Jonny Gomes.
“India’s passion for sport, combined with its vibrant entertainment culture, makes Mumbai the perfect setting for MLBx’s first event in the country," Jeremiah Yolkut, Major League Baseball's senior vice president of global opersations and events said. "By bringing together some of India’s biggest cricket stars with MLB stars and elite softball athletes, we’re creating a unique opportunity for fans to experience baseball in a new and exciting way. We’re excited to continue building our connection with Indian fans and introducing more people to the game through this celebration of sport and culture.”
More roster information will be released soon. Tickets for MLBx: Mumbai are now live on BookMyShow.
