The Cubs added to their bullpen mix on Saturday, acquiring right-handed reliever Jayden Murray from the Astros in exchange for Minor League first baseman Cameron Sisneros.

Murray made eight appearances for Houston this season, all out of the bullpen, with a 7.43 ERA. He was designated for assignment on Tuesday to open up a roster spot for returning right-hander Hunter Brown.

A 23rd-round Draft pick by the Rays back in 2019, Murray was solid in his debut 2025 campaign, with a 1.54 ERA in 11 2/3 innings across nine games (one start). He joins a Cubs team currently missing closer Daniel Palencia (mild right flexor strain) and several other bullpen arms to injury.

Sisneros, who is currently in the Double-A level, was not among the Cubs’ Top 30 Prospects at the time of the trade, according to MLB Pipeline. Chicago’s 14th-round pick in 2024 out of East Tennessee State, Sisneros has a .265/.419/.422 slash line in 49 Minor League games this season, with six home runs and 37 RBIs. He was promoted to Double-A Knoxville from High-A South Bend on May 26.
