Jimenez among top prospect performers Monday

A pair of Cubs prospects shined at the Class A level on Monday, helping propel the South Bend Cubs to a doubleheader sweep of Peoria.
Eloy Jimenez -- Chicago's No. 4 prospect -- and Eddy Martinez (Cubs' No. 13) each contributed big offensive performances against the Chiefs.

Jimenez, baseball's No. 98 overall prospect, went 4-for-4 on the day with a double, a home run and four total RBIs. In the opener, Martinez homered and collected a career-high four RBIs in a 9-8 win. He notched another RBI in a 9-2 win in the second game of the twin bill.

Dodgers No. 25 prospect Johan Mieses collected his second-career four-hit game, going 4-for-5 with two doubles and two homers in Class A Advanced Rancho Cucamonga's 12-1 win over Inland Empire. Mieses helped fuel the Quakes' rout with three runs scored and a career-high six RBIs.
Phillies No. 18 prospect Rhys Hoskins extended his Minor League-leading home run total to 29 with a long ball for Double-A Reading. Hoskins' homer ended up being the difference as his team defeated Binghamton, 1-0.
Rockies No. 13 prospect Peter Lambert shut down Greenville for six innings in a 4-1 victory for Class A Asheville. Lambert allowed one baserunner, a two-out single in the second, and struck out six of the first 10 batters he faced, totaling a career-best eight.
Royals No. 14 prospect Hunter Dozier went deep twice for the Omaha Storm Chasers in a 12-5 loss to Nashville. Dozier wnet 2-for-4 with two solo homers and a walk, collecting his third multi-homer game of 2016 and pushing his season total to 21.

• Travis Blankenhorn, the Twins' No. 16 prospect, led the Appalachian League's Elizabethton Twins with a three-hit, two-homer performance. Blackenhorn went 3-for-5, matching his career-high with four RBIs. It marked Blackenhorn's 10th multi-hit game this year and his third with three or more hits.
Twins No. 28 prospect Lachlan Wells was dominant, tossing a career-high eight scoreless innings in Class A Cedar Rapids' 2-0 win over Dayton. Wells limited the Dragons to just two singles, a hit-by-pitch and a walk while striking out nine and lowering his ERA from 2.05 to 1.57. He didn't allow a single baserunner to advance into scoring position.
