CHICAGO -- The Cubs opted to go with 12 pitchers for the National League Championship Series and added rookie left-hander Rob Zastryzny to the roster, dropping infielder Tommy La Stella, who was on the NL Division Series roster.
The Cubs face the Dodgers in Game 1 of the NLCS on Saturday at Wrigley Field (8 p.m. ET/7 p.m. CT, FS1).

The Dodgers finished last in the Majors in batting average (.214), on-base percentage (.291) and slugging percentage (.333) against lefties. Zastryzny faced them on Aug. 27 at Dodger Stadium, pitching 3 2/3 innings of relief. He gave up one hit and struck out three, in what was his third big league appearance.

The Cubs continued to carry three catchers, including Miguel Montero, who has had some minor back soreness. Montero has been matched up with Jake Arrieta, who is scheduled to start Game 3.
In the NLDS, the Cubs had 11 pitchers and 14 position players, with an emphasis on defense, including rookie Albert Almora Jr. They used all but one of the relievers in an extra inning game against the Giants.
The addition of Zastryzny gives the Cubs four left-handed relievers in the bullpen as he joins Travis Wood, Mike Montgomery and Aroldis Chapman.
The other pitchers on the roster include starters Jon Lester, Kyle Hendricks, Arrieta and John Lackey, plus relievers Carl Edwards Jr., Pedro Strop, Justin Grimm and Héctor Rondón.
The position players include catchers Montero, David Ross, and rookie Willson Contreras; infielders Anthony Rizzo, Ben Zobrist, Addison Russell, Kris Bryant, and Javier Báez; and outfielders Almora, Jorge Soler, Jason Heyward, Dexter Fowler and Chris Coghlan.
Almora has been used primarily as a defensive sub, but also has contributed at the plate, batting .321 in 12 games in September. The rookie got a spot over Matt Szczur, who batted .120 in 16 games in September and hit .261 as a pinch-hitter this season.
