Welcome to DraftKings fantasy baseball, the Official Daily Fantasy Game of Major League Baseball.
The players listed below are in position to provide difference-making stats for DraftKings participants on Sunday.
Xander Bogaerts: Hitting .331 with 66 RBIs and 78 runs across 458 plate appearances, the shortstop has been one of the most productive players at his premium position this season. From the No. 3 spot in a Red Sox lineup that leads the Majors with 567 runs scored, Bogaerts could post a substantial DraftKings total when he brings his lifetime .861 OPS against left-handers (.725 vs. righties) into a matchup with Angels southpaw Tyler Skaggs (career 4.55 ERA).
:: Fred Zinkie's Daily Picks ::
Dustin Pedroia: The second baseman could reach base often and score multiple runs when he bats out of the No. 2 spot in the Red Sox talent-laden lineup against Skaggs, who will be making his second start since the outset of 2015 due to his recovery from Tommy John surgery. In his career, Pedroia has registered a 127 wRC+ against left-handers that exceeds his 112 mark vs. righties.
Odúbel Herrera: The outfielder will be in position to reach base often and score multiple runs when he brings his lifetime 120 wRC+ against right-handers (83 vs. lefties) into a matchup with Braves righty Casey Kelly (career 6.39 ERA, 1.74 WHIP). Herrera could also swipe a base against catcher A.J. Pierzynski, who sometimes struggles to thwart would-be basestealers.
Maikel Franco: As a big leaguer, the third baseman has produced a .786 OPS against right-handers that exceeds his .724 mark vs. lefties. Franco could have a great game when he faces the right-handed Kelly (5.82 ERA, 1.71 WHIP in 2016) and a Braves bullpen that ranks 21st in baseball with a 4.12 ERA.
Curtis Granderson: Hitting leadoff, the outfielder may maximize his opportunities to reach base and score runs when he brings his lifetime 129 wRC+ against right-handers (88 vs. lefties) into a matchup with righty Chad Bettis (career 5.21 ERA, 1.52 WHIP) and a Rockies bullpen that ranks 28th in baseball with a 4.76 ERA.
Neil Walker: The second baseman has long fared best vs. right-handers, against whom he has produced a lifetime .178 ISO (.095 vs. lefties). Walker could hit his 17th homer of the season or drive in multiple runs when he faces the right-handed Bettis (5.19 ERA, 1.45 WHIP in 2016) and a Rockies squad that ranks 28th in baseball with a .686 defensive efficiency ratio.
Michael Conforto: The outfielder owns some of the most lopsided splits in baseball, with a lifetime .852 OPS against right-handers in comparison to a .282 mark vs. lefties. Hitting .225 this season, Conforto could be a cost-effective option in DraftKings contests when he faces the right-handed Bettis (career 4.28 FIP) and an unreliable Rockies relief corps.
Nomar Mazara: The rookie outfielder will be in great position to improve on his .295/.351/.465 slash line against right-handers when he bats at his hitter-friendly home park against Royals righty Dillon Gee (career 4.07 ERA, 1.34 WHIP).
Eric Hosmer: Hitting cleanup, the first baseman could display his power or drive in multiple runs when he vacates his pitcher-friendly home park and bats at offense-inducing Globe Life Park in Arlington against righty Lucas Harrell (career 4.74 ERA, 1.56 WHIP) and a Rangers relief corps that ranks 29th in baseball with a 4.86 ERA.
Gregory Polanco: The outfielder owns pronounced lifetime splits, with a .783 OPS against right-handers in comparison to a .562 mark vs. lefties. Polanco has the plate skills to excel against Brewers righty Matt Garza (5.74 ERA, 1.68 WHIP in 2016) and the speed to swipe a base against catcher Jonathan Lucroy, who has allowed more steals than all but one catcher in 2016.
Jake Lamb: Hitting .282 with 21 homers and 65 RBIs across 326 at-bats, the third baseman is one of this season's biggest breakout performers. Lamb could continue his stellar campaign when he brings his lifetime .357 wOBA against right-handers (.265 vs. lefties) into a matchup with Dodgers righty Bud Norris (career 4.43 ERA, 1.39 WHIP).
Matt Adams: The first baseman owns notable lifetime splits, with an .817 OPS against right-handers in comparison to a .568 mark vs. lefties. Adams could thrive when he faces Marlins righty Andrew Cashner (4.76 ERA, 1.39 WHIP in 2016) as part of a Cardinals lineup that ranks second in the Majors with an .802 OPS against righties.
Buster Posey: With a lifetime .325/.389/.558 slash line against left-handers, the catcher has proven to be one of the best in baseball during those matchups. Posey could provide outstanding production at a premium position when he meets up with Nationals southpaw Gio González (4.44 ERA, 1.36 WHIP in 2016).
Corey Kluber: With a 3.06 ERA, a 1.06 WHIP and a 9.9 K/9 rate since the outset of 2014, the right-hander has proven to be one of the most dominant starters in the American League. Kluber could continue to dominate the opposition when he works at home against an A's lineup that ranks 26th in the Majors with a .700 OPS against righties.
Michael Pineda: With the fifth-most strikeouts (135) in the American League this season, Pineda has the skills to post a notable DraftKings total when he vacates his hitter-friendly home park and works at offense-suppressing Tropicana Field against a Rays lineup that ranks 23rd in baseball in OPS against righties (.705) and fifth in total whiffs (913).
Blake Snell: DraftKings participants who do not select Pineda may instead opt for his mound opponent. The left-hander could deliver a stellar start when he works at his pitcher-friendly home park against a Yankees lineup that ranks 27th in baseball in OPS vs. lefties (.695) and 28th in OPS on the road (.676).
Ervin Santana: With a 2.02 ERA across his past seven starts, the right-hander ranks among the hottest starters in the American League. Santana could continue to limit the opposition when he works at home against a White Sox lineup that ranks 27th in baseball with a .697 OPS against righties.
