Robertson slugs grand slam in Cali homecoming

ANAHEIM -- Rays shortstop Daniel Robertson rattles off the names as if they were in Saturday night's Angels lineup and not the one from the Fall Classic in 2002.
"Garret Anderson, Troy Glaus, Tim Salmon, Scott Spiezio,'' Robertson said.
As a tyke, Robertson's love for the Angels was unmatched. Growing up in nearby Upland, Calif., Robertson wasn't quite close enough to see if the Big A halo was blinking after wins, but he saw plenty of games. There was no win for the Halos on Saturday vs. the Rays, and that's due in large part to the first grand slam in Robertson's career, which he hit off starter Andrew Heaney in the second inning to put Tampa Bay ahead, 4-0, on its way to a 5-3 victory.

The location helped make Robertson's first career grand slam -- at any level -- feel so good. Plus, there were a couple of hundred friends and family members cheering for Robertson as if it were the World Series -- much like the one the Angels captured in 2002.
"I was like 7 or 8 years old," Robertson said.
"I've never hit a grand slam, and to do it in a ballpark where I grew up watching games in front of family and friends was pretty incredible. I was actually laughing around the bases, it was too good to be true almost. You can't make this stuff up. It is crazy.''
