SAN FRANCISCO -- Denard Span's savvy baserunning helped the Giants take an early lead in Game 4 of the National League Division Series on Tuesday night at AT&T Park, but the Cubs rallied late for a 6-5 win to advance to the NL Championship Series.
Span led off the game by pulling a double past Cubs first baseman Anthony Rizzo and into right field. Brandon Belt followed with a flyout to center field, allowing Span to tag up and slide safely into third base. Span came home on a sacrifice fly to right by Buster Posey, running across the plate as Jason Heyward's throw sailed over his head.
The Giants finished 56-28 this season when scoring first.
