Wood stellar, but 15th win will have to wait

LOS ANGELES -- Dodgers lefty Alex Wood likes to put his trust in his infielders, inducing ground balls and not allowing many fly balls.
Wood entered Tuesday's game against the White Sox with a 57.5 percent ground-ball rate, but Chicago's Tim Anderson cranked the first pitch of the game out the park to give the White Sox an early advantage.
Anderson's homer would be the only damage Wood allowed through his seven innings, but the White Sox didn't make it easy, putting balls in the air while tallying six hits against the All-Star.
"Kind of a weird night," Wood said after the Dodgers' 6-1 win. "I didn't feel like I had my best stuff. It's kind of an interesting dynamic because they've been one of the most aggressive teams in all of baseball, it was a lot more of my secondary stuff tonight. I feel like we were able to command that for the most part."
Wood, who has gone 7-1 with a 3.02 ERA in 10 home starts, faced one last threat in the seventh after Leury García hit a leadoff double to left field and moved to third on Yoán Moncada's groundout.
The southpaw didn't flinch, getting Adam Engel to ground out to third thanks to a nice grab by Justin Turner and striking out Alen Hanson with a fastball to end the frame.
"It was a big spot," manager Dave Roberts said. "For him to get out of it was really big."
