Dodgers announce new food offerings for 2018

LOS ANGELES -- On the eve of the Dodgers' 60th season in the city of Los Angeles, club officials hosted an event to preview the team's new food offerings and promotional items that will be available for fans in 2018.
With promotional events or item giveaways scheduled for 60 of the season's 81 home games, there is something that is certain to appeal every fan. Many of the team's most popular promotions are returning, with Friday Night Fireworks, bobbleheads, collector's cards, t-shirts, hats and over 20 co-branded community nights,. The community nights will include USC and UCLA nights, Teacher Appreciation, Mexican Heritage, African American Heritage, Law Enforcement Appreciation, Military Appreciation nights and many more, with each event featuring co-branded t-shirts, hats or other specialty item.
On Friday, March 30, the Dodgers' first night game of the season, the team will be giving out a Kirk Gibson bobblehead to commemorate the 30th Anniversary of one of the franchise's most memorable moments, Gibson's walk-off home run during Game 1 of the 1988 World Series. In addition, the seat in the Right Field Pavilion where the ball landed will be marked and for each game, that seat and the one next to it will be available to purchase. Fans who purchase the two tickets will also receive two commemorative t-shirts, and access to food and drink in the Coca-Cola All-Inclusive Right Field Pavilion. The seats will be $300 for the pair with $200 donated to the Kirk Gibson Foundation to raise money and awareness for Parkinson's research.

The team also unveiled for the first time the Cody Bellinger Rookie of the Year booblehead, which will be distributed on Saturday, April 21, when the Dodgers face off against the Washington Nationals. The booblehead features Bellinger holding his Rookie of the Year plaque.
When the Dodgers play the D-backs on Jackie Robinson Day, which takes place on Sunday, April 15, they will be giving away a replica Jackie Robinson jersey.
Dodgers executive chef Ryan Evans presented the new menu items that will be featured at various locations around the stadium in 2018. The menu features new food items as well as some items that were limited specials last season, including during the postseason. In addition, instead of selling some items in selected areas of the stadium only, these specialty items will be available to fans in all levels.
Chef Evans, who took over as the Dodgers executive chef just before last season, believes that Dodger Stadium will now feature "some of the best culinary items available in all of MLB." He also said that there will be new items added to the menu as the season progresses as he and his staff "continue to develop our culinary program here."
Some of the items presented included tortas featuring carne asada, nopales with refried beans, chicken, sun-dried tomato, herb aioli, swiss cheese, and lettuce on a pretzel croissant, as well as spicy chicken in buffalo sauce with jalapeno slaw and pickles on Texas toast, and a New England-style lobster roll served on a King's Hawaiian roll.
Also introduced were vegetarian dishes, including a veggie burger and an Inca blend quinoa zucchini tossed in a housemade pesto, corn, green onion, chickpeas and toasted pine nuts. Chef Evans said that he expects more vegetarian menu items to be introduced as they are "trying to expand the vegetarian program, offering many items besides just tofu-based items."
A more in-depth look at all the food items that will be available at Dodger Stadium this season can be found by visiting Dodger Stadium Food on Facebook, or following @DodgerStadiumFB on Twitter.
Finally, team officials discussed the ongoing efforts of the Los Angeles Dodgers Foundation, led by executive director Nicole Whiteman, which focuses on finding innovative ways to create opportunities for children through programs that engage with kids in sports, helps kids stay active and promotes academic success. Such programs include Dodgers Dreamfields, which has invested $7.7 million in building and refurbishing recreation spaces in underserved neighborhoods, Dodgers RBI, a program to increase baseball and softball participation in the inner cities as a well to increase access to literacy, health, wellness and recreational resources, and LA Reads, a joint literacy campaign between the Foundation and the Dodgers to motivate youth to read.
With the highest cumulative fan attendance in MLB history, dating back to 1901, the Dodgers' presentation showed that they aren't resting on their laurels but continue to strive to provide a first-class, fan-friendly experience at Dodger Stadium, and build a strong partnership with the community.
