FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
DODGERS’ BLAKE SNELL TO JOIN
THE LOS ANGELES DODGERS FOUNDATION
TO BREAK GROUND ON DODGERS DREAMFIELDS 69 AND 70 AT CHARLES S. FARNSWORTH PARK IN ALTADENA
In partnership with the County of Los Angeles Department of Parks and Recreation, the $1.4 million project will restore two fields and expand opportunities for recreation, learning and community connection as Altadena continues its recovery from the Eaton Fire
LOS ANGELES (Nov. 2, 2026) – The Los Angeles Dodgers Foundation (LADF), in partnership with the County of Los Angeles Department of Parks and Recreation (LA County Parks), will break ground on Dodgers Dreamfields 69 and 70 at Charles S. Farnsworth Park on Thursday, November 5, 2026. The $1.4 million investment will fully restore both fields and reintroduce safe, inclusive spaces for local youth and families as Altadena continues recovering from the Eaton Fire.
As part of Farnsworth Park’s overall revitalization, work will officially begin with a groundbreaking ceremony that will include a shovel dedication and a brief program featuring remarks from LADF CEO Nichol McKenzie-Whiteman, Los Angeles County Fifth District Supervisor Kathryn Barger, Los Angeles County Department of Parks and Recreation Director Norma Garcia-Gonzalez, Dodger pitcher Blake Snell, Dodger broadcaster Jose Mota and project sponsors.
Adding Dodgers Dreamfields 69 and 70 marks the next phase in returning vital recreation and community programming for Altadena families. Charles S. Farnsworth Park, a historic Altadena landmark, was among the sites severely impacted by the Eaton Fire in January 2025. The nearly 15-acre park sustained significant losses, including its historic William D. Davies Building, a utility building, and offices. Other park amenities were damaged, including its popular amphitheater, which hosted theater and concerts, as well as a playground, a restroom, and critical power and water infrastructure.
The loss of facilities, rental spaces, and program revenue created a significant funding gap for rebuilding the park. The two Dodgers Dreamfields are part of a broader, multi-phased recovery effort by LA County Parks and the LA County Parks Foundation to restore the park’s damaged amenities and infrastructure.
The development of Dodgers Dreamfields 69 and 70 has included listening sessions with local stakeholders, including the Community Coalition for Altadena Recovery, Central Altadena Little League, and other community leaders.
“Altadena has shown extraordinary strength and resilience, and we are honored to continue standing with this community as it recovers and rebuilds,” said Nichol McKenzie-Whiteman, CEO of the Los Angeles Dodgers Foundation. “Dodgers Dreamfields 69 and 70 are about so much more than baseball and softball. They are about restoring a beloved gathering place, creating new opportunities for young people and giving families a space to reconnect, learn, play and dream together.”
“Altadena’s young baseball players and their families have been eagerly waiting for the day they can return to the diamonds of Farnsworth Park,” said LA County Parks Director Norma E. García-González. “The transformation to two new Dodgers Dreamfields, along with the new educational STEM trail, will bring excitement, hope and new opportunities for children and families to learn, play, and create lasting memories. We are incredibly grateful to the Los Angeles Dodgers Foundation for its generosity and commitment to helping Altadena recover and rebuild. Together, we are creating a brighter future for this community.”
Dodgers Dreamfields 69 and 70 will support baseball and softball programming for youth ages 5–12, and provide open recreational access for youth and teens up to age 18. Planned upgrades include new irrigation systems, improved playing surfaces, fencing, and solar-powered hexagonal scoreboards reminiscent of those at UNIQLO Field at Dodger Stadium. The project will also feature improved batting cages and a permanent, self-guided STEM Trail connecting the upper and lower fields through interactive learning moments that incorporate LADF’s Science of Baseball curriculum and the park’s natural environment.
The project builds upon LADF and LA County Parks’ work together across Los Angeles County. To date, the organizations have developed 17 Dodgers Dreamfields across the county, including Dodgers Dreamfields 66 and 67 at Loma Alta Park in Altadena.
Since 2003, LADF has invested more than $21.3 million in 68 Dodgers Dreamfields. With the groundbreaking of Dreamfields 69 and 70, LADF continues advancing toward its commitment to complete 75 Dodgers Dreamfields by 2028.
Lead sponsors on Dodgers Dreamfields 69 and 70 include the County of Los Angeles Department of Parks & Recreation, Madhappy / The Madhappy Foundation, and the Susan & Gordon DesCombes Family.
Additional sponsors include Henry L. Guenther Foundation, Helen & Will Webster Foundation, Security Benefit, LA84 Foundation, Bank of America, Fanatics Foundation, Kershaw Foundation, The Mickey & Lee Segal Family Foundation, The Rotary Club of Altadena, ServPro, Anita Bhatia Foundation for Tomorrow, The Nancy P. & Richard K.
