What's that sound on the broadcast? Just an extremely passionate young fan

“My man in the first row is relentless with his energy for the Dodgers today.”

Those were the words of Dodgers play-by-play announcer Stephen Nelson describing a very vocal fan cheering for the Dodgers throughout their sweep-sealing victory over the Angels on Sunday. Seated in the front row behind home plate at Angel Stadium, a young Dodgers fan was picked up by the microphone cheering on his favorite team throughout the Dodgers’ 10-1 win.

“Let’s go Rojas, let’s go,” yelled the kid as Nelson acknowledged his passion while at the same time explaining why the broadcast was picking up the cheering during the game.

"It is our field mic that picks up the crack of the bat, so we don’t want to turn it down so you don’t hear the crack of the bat, but you’re definitely getting the voice of a little person," he said.

Perhaps that young fan gave the Dodgers an audible boost to finish off this Freeway Series. It was a resounding series victory over the Dodgers’ Southern California neighbors, in which they outscored the Angels 31-3 in the three-game set.
