MILWAUKEE -- The Dodgers claimed infielder Cole Figueroa from the Pirates on Tuesday and optioned him to Triple-A Oklahoma City.
Figueroa, 28, has appeared in 48 Major League games in three seasons with the Rays (2014), Yankees ('15) and Pirates ('16), batting .208 with nine RBIs. He is a career .291 hitter in the Minors.
Figueroa made the Bucs' 2016 Opening Day roster. In 23 big league games this year, he went 4-for-26 (.154), primarily being used as a pinch-hitter (14 games), but also appearing at second base (five games, two starts), third base (two games) and shortstop (two games).
The Dodgers now have a full 40-man roster and will need to clear a spot for Brock Stewart, who is expected to be selected from Triple-A Oklahoma City to be the starting pitcher Wednesday night.
