Liberatore to have arthroscopic elbow surgery

LOS ANGELES -- Dodgers left-handed reliever Adam Liberatore is scheduled to undergo an arthroscopic left elbow debridement on Tuesday. The club said he is expected to be ready for the 2017 season.
Liberatore is the third Dodgers pitcher to require the procedure, following Alex Wood and Hyun Jin Ryu.
Liberatore didn't allow a run in 28 consecutive games from May 20 to July 22, breaking the previous Dodgers record of 23 games set by John Candelaria in 1991.
But the usage took its toll, and from July 20 to Aug. 19, he was on the disabled list with what the club described as left elbow inflammation.
His ERA, a microscopic 0.55 on July 22, jumped to 3.29 by early September and he made only seven appearances that month, the last coming Sept. 29 when he allowed two runs in one inning at San Diego. Liberatore made 14 appearances in May, 12 in June and 11 in July. He finished with a 3.38 ERA and 42 2/3 innings pitched.
Meanwhile, Wood has essentially moved into Liberatore's spot on the postseason roster as an added left-handed reliever behind Grant Dayton, although the club has not made that official.
Dr. Neal ElAttrache will perform the surgery on Liberatore.
