Feeling blue? Dodgers unveil new road jersey in franchise first
When the Dodgers take the field Friday against the Nationals in Washington D.C., they’ll be making history. And it has little to do with the superstar-filled roster that has brought the club two straight World Series championships.
The Dodgers will wear blue jerseys, which will be part of this season’s regular road uniform rotation for the first time in franchise history. The club announced its new fashion statement on X on Thursday.
Dodger Blue is plenty recognizable. The team has worn blue jerseys during Spring Training and in past City Connect alternates. But this is a shift from tradition.
"It'll be fun. First time, I guess, in history, so it'll be a nice thing to see,” manager Dave Roberts said Friday. “They look good."
The jersey features the Dodgers’ iconic script “Los Angeles” across the front, matching what has been on its typical grey uniforms since 1999. The sleeves feature a script “Dodgers” patch, as opposed to the usual interlocked “LA” logo, and have grey piping to match grey pants. Traditional red numbers will also grace the front of the kit with a grey outline.
The Dodgers will also continue to wear their two long-standing grey road uniforms, one with Los Angeles written across the chest and one with Dodgers written there -- both featuring classic red numbers on the front.
